Testing and Running
Posted: 2nd September 2007
I thought it may be time to update you all on my current state in life. I have just enjoyed a week long holiday with Katie down in Surrey relaxing, seeing a few sites and quite a few more drinks. I was planning to stick around a bit longer down here due to a conveniently booked training course. Unfortunately the said training course was cancelled by the hosts (presumably because of a lack of interest) so I am back to work tomorrow (Monday). Its getting a bit frustrating now because that was the third attempt to get onto that course - there is another some time this month but attendance to that will be decided later.
Additionally, as of Monday, I intend to run to and from work. This is not as crazy as it sounds for the following reasons
- Its only 4km away so it will most likely take between 20-30 minutes to travel, which is more or less the same amount of time (on average) that it already takes me.
- The bus prices over the past 5 years have doubled and I'm getting a little bit sick of it.
- Bus journeys are never fun - especially when its wet.
The upside of this venture is that I save money (approximately 300 quid per year) and get slightly more healthy.
Additionally if it rains, I'll
get wet - however there is a shower at work which I intend to use.
I've bought myself a specialist lightweight, bounce-reducing rucksack
and a lightweight waterproof - if - you - keep - moving jacket which
will mean that I will have to run for at least two months to get my
money back - so I will be giving it a good evaluation of its success.
