Testing and Running

Posted: 2nd September 2007

I thought it may be time to update you all on my current state in life.  I have just enjoyed a week long holiday with Katie down in Surrey relaxing, seeing a few sites and quite a few more drinks.  I was planning to stick around a bit longer down here due to a conveniently booked training course.  Unfortunately the said training course was cancelled by the hosts (presumably because of a lack of interest) so I am back to work tomorrow (Monday).  Its getting a bit frustrating now because that was the third attempt to get onto that course - there is another some time this month but attendance to that will be decided later.

Additionally, as of Monday, I intend to run to and from work.  This is not as crazy as it sounds for the following reasons

  1. Its only 4km away so it will most likely take between 20-30 minutes to travel, which is more or less the same amount of time (on average) that it already takes me.
  2. The bus prices over the past 5 years have doubled and I'm getting a little bit sick of it.
  3. Bus journeys are never fun - especially when its wet.

The upside of this venture is that I save money (approximately 300 quid per year) and get slightly more healthy.

Additionally if it rains, I'll get wet - however there is a shower at work which I intend to use.  I've bought myself a specialist lightweight, bounce-reducing rucksack and a lightweight waterproof - if - you - keep - moving jacket which will mean that I will have to run for at least two months to get my money back - so I will be giving it a good evaluation of its success.
