Back from Holiday

Hello all! I am back from my week holiday and I'm glad to say I really enjoyed it. Katie and I got up to a lot of things, most notably going to the Ice Bar on Heddon Street in London. I sincerely recommend going at least once - it costs 12 quid and the drinks are expensive but its an experience that will be hard to forget! Photos are up.

The other days were spent relaxing with a fair amount of travelling. For me personally it was from Manchester to Surrey and back again, then to Wetherby, then to Bempton near Scarborough before heading back to Manchester. Unfortunately I got quite badly sunburnt on the back of my neck on Sunday (the hottest day of this year so far). Fortunately its beginning to form a deep tan (I think - I can't really see) and my arms are looking healthy at least.

This weekend Neil, Katie, Suzi and I will be watching England play France at Twickenham. I'm hoping they will keep their performance up after beating Wales 62-5 as there is nothing better than seeing us beat the French (given our history with them).

No Run

Actually, I didn't go to London to run - the logistics of getting down to London to only see Katie for a few hours, do a run and then back up, possibly without a shower, was too expensive and in danger of being smelly. Additionally, if the weather in London was anything like it was yesterday, I'm even more glad I didn't.

What remains now is to drink less and visit the gym/go running more regularly, partly due to the weather sort of getting better and the need for a healthy routine.

Great Capital Run and Sovereign Craft

This Sunday I will be running in the Great Capital Run - which I have completely forgotten to train for. In any case, it doesn't look like its going to be a particularly good one as its some strange lap system around Hyde Park which will lead to all sorts of congestion all the way along. Oh well.

In other news, Sovereign Craft has been officially closed. This coincides with the expiry of the domain rental. If anybody is concerned with this closeure please contact me so we can discuss.

Renovo Bar Rally Photos Up

As promised the photos from Renovo's bar rally are up - well, at least the decent ones anyway. It was a very good night and most of us got very, very, very drunk, including me. At least I had learnt from my past experience and took the day off - no more IT meetings with a pounding headache for me!

Incidentally as the development team (which I am part of) has just finished our first fully GAMP validated bespoke system we are having a celebration tomorrow in which I expect we will all get equally drunk as its caused us so much sweat, tears, blood, over-hours and incompetence on other people's parts. It seems justified so don't expect to get much of a response from me on Saturday morning!

3 Peaks Challenge

A good ol' school friend has invited me to take part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. For those that don't know, thats 3 mountains in 12 hours in the Peak District - which isn't easy in any means. If we do get the journey done in less than 12 hours we are admitted to the 3 Peaks Club with its own tie and stuff! More ties is always good!

We've pencilled the last Sunday of August and the first Sunday of September so that we still have some light to do the challenge in. Neither of us particularly want to walk in the dark - brings back memories of an atrocious attempt when we were both in the Army cadets.

There will be photos and hopefully a video too which will all end up here at some point. If you or know someone who has done the challenge I'd be very gratefull if you or they could pass some hints or tips our way. Information is power!
