News from Work

Its been a while for any updates from me - partly because I haven't really been up to much since the run. However at work quite a few events have or are going to happen.
Renovo Scoring System is finished!
Thank God! Its been a year in development and its now on its absolute last stages. I've even started working on the next project.
Renovo Secures a Major Contract
We've entered into a massive agreement with another company called Shire which will bring us lots of money! Not sure how it will affect me directly but its interesting nonetheless.
Second Bar Rally Next Week!
My second bar rally is next week and this time the theme is Sleepover - I'll be wondering around Manchester in a dressing gown! Be sure that photos will appear in the future. I can't wait!
Great Manchester Run Completed
Posted: 21st May 2007
Hello all! I ran in the Great Manchester Run yesterday in a time of
48 minutes 56 seconds. Not my best time by a long shot but this can
possibly be due to a couple of reasons:
- I wasn't wearing a watch during the run - so I couldn't pace myself.
- I haven't been properly training for the past month.
The latter is partly my fault but this has been due to work being made more stressful by a particular individual and doing repetitive and tedious work that soon becomes void. As a result I think of drinking beer before running when I get home. However it looks like he may be gone soon so I may be able to pick up the pace in training when I've fully recovered in a couple of days.
The next run for me is the Great Capital Run on the 16th (I think) of July in Hyde Park, London, which I will be looking forward to as running a race in London is actually rather pleasant.
Back from Dublin

Hello all! Apologies for the total lack of news on this site. Work has been quite hectic as deadlines have been hitting us and now it seems we are approaching the final straight which looks downhill.
Katie and I have just spent a lovely long weekend in Dublin and enjoyed it immensely. Managed to take quite a few photos so be sure to check them out. Walked around the town quite a bit, visited the Guinness brewery was great for many reasons including the fact that Katie now has a certificate proving that she can now pour the perfect pint!
Whilst we were there I ran the Great Ireland Run in a time of 49 minutes and 54 seconds (official). Very demanding course with steep and long hills especially when you haven't been able to train for the best part of 3 weeks. However I did manage to get interviewed by a camera crew so if anybody has a recording of this race, live or highlights please let me know and I will find some way of begging you for a copy of it.
As for the rest of my life I have quite a few things going on, especially in the development realm ranging from websites to learning C++ to designing a computer game so I'm keeping myself busy. A lot of this is thanks to my brand new laptop: the Dell XPS M1210. It allows me to be geeky on the move so no more boring long train journeys.....I'm sure that's hard for a lot of people to understand. I'll probably put some pictures of it up later - it also comes with Vista which in regards to my blog article about operating systems has met my expectations if only slightly exceeded them. It hasn't crashed yet but the Wow definitely has not started now....and probably never will.
And as soon as I turn on my laptop it crashes. So there you go...
Charity asks for Help

After I sent Neurocare (a charity that gets funds for hospital equipment, particularly those to do with Neurosurgery) a revised template of their current website, they have asked me to implement the new design. The new design features W3C compliant HTML and adds further accessibility features.Unsuccessfull entry to GNR

"Dear James Battersby,
We regret to inform you that your ballot application for the 2007 BUPA Great North Run has been unsuccessful."
Damn...this means that if I want to run in this race I will have to go via a Charity, which means sponsorship money. This may not be a problem in itself but I remember what I had to do when I raised over 1300 quid for The Children's Trust....guh
If I pick I'll be setting up donation area on this site so you can help me on my way.
